This is small group workshop of 6 photographers, aimed at covering a real life, live studio beauty photo session from start to finished. If you are interested in beauty photography with a professional model then this day is perfect for you.
Running for 5 hours we will cover a complete A-Z on beauty work. We will initially spend the first part of the day looking at our concept/theme for the photo shoot.
We will then spend some time with the makeup artist and model where key creative decisions made during the makeup application process will be explained and related to out overall theme for the day. The makeup artist will also impart extremely valuable information on face shape, how a face has been sculpted/shaped carefully using contouring and highlighting etc. giving you the photographer a big head start in how to apply lighting to the face.
In the main part of the afternoon we will move into the studio and build a full beauty lighting setup, placing one light at a time and seeing what it does. We will see how to apply lighting specific to suit a certain face shape, and also to best enhance the good work of the makeup artist. This will be your opportunity to get some shots yourself of the professional model under beauty lighting, so you can take home some images to retouch yourself.
If you currently use a ‘one size fits all’ lighting technique to all face shapes then this day will make you think very differently about setting up your lighting each time you work in the studio. The right model for beauty work, a skilled makeup artist and the knowledge of the photographer to apply the correct lighting is a powerful combination and sure to create spectacular results.
The final part of the afternoon is spent loading up and assessing our images from the photoshoot. We will go through a vital selection process to get down to the very best images. From there we will go step by step through a full beauty retouch process using Lightroom and Photoshop, ending up with a magazine standard retouched image.
